Project Title: Study the effect of salinity on Brassinosteroids receptors-BRI1/BAK1
Abstract of Project :
My current research work aims in getting insight into the mechanism of brassinosteroids (BRs) mediated protection of plants under abiotic stress. BRs is a group of plant steroidal hormones that regulate a wide range of physiological responses, including stress responses. BRs are perceived by a protein complex containing two trans-membrane receptor kinases: Brassinosteroid Insensitive 1 (BRI1) and BRI1-Associated Receptor Kinase 1 (BAK1). Although a great deal has been discovered regarding BR signaling, a major gap in our understanding lies in the early molecular events that regulate BL-dependent BRI1/BAK1 association and phosphorylation particularly under stress conditions. Thus, my study is aimed at analyzing the effect of salinity on the brassinosteroids receptors BRI1/BAK1, and know whether stress causes any change in the receptors and consequently the BRs perception. Understanding the functioning of BRI1/BAK1 under salinity stress will thus be an important study to divulge BRs mode of action.
